Two narcotic smugglers held alongwith 225 Kgs Bhukki

Jammu/Udhampur, Nov 14: In continuation to the drive launched against drug peddlers/smugglers indulged in illegal trade of drugs, District Police toady achieved a major success in recovering 225 KG poppy straw from 02 drug smugglers during surprise checking of the vehicles on National Highway near Kud. Police said that the identities of arrested drug smugglers have been established as Joginder Singh S/o Balwant Singh R/o Simblali, Akhnoor and Nazir Ahmed S/o Furqan Ali R/o Judda, Reasi.According police spokesperson from Udhampur the narcotics smugglers were smuggling the consignment towards Jammu/Punjab/Other states of North India for its illegal trade/supply among the drug addicted youngsters.Police said, "Police early this morning conducted surprise checking of the vehicles on National Highway near Kud and during checking, Police party noticed one suspicious truck (JK02AB-6096)."
As noticing the police party, the driver of the truck fled away leaving behind the truck on NHW near surprise Naka Point Kud," police said adding, "however two other suspicious persons who were also travelling in the same truck also tried to flee from the spot, which were immediately chased and nabbed by Police party." "During thorough search which was apparently looking like a truck loaded with apple boxes but the smugglers were clandestinely smuggling contraband hidden in a slot specially made within the apple boxes on all sides i.e. top, bottom and walls where eight (08) Jute Bags completely packed with Poppy Straw (Bhukki), police further adding, "number plates of the load carrier was also being frequently changed by the smugglers on-way to deceive the Police personnel." The consignment contraband was seized on the spot while vehicle also was seized while a case FIR No. 131 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act registered in Police Station Kud. Meanwhile the manhunt is on to apprehend the driver of the truck in this connection.
