| BJP, BSP, JKNPP, NCP boycott meet | | Azad reaches Kishtwar, talks communal peace | | Asif Iqbal Naik
KISHTWAR, Nov 14: Underlying importance of maintenance of peace and communal harmony, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad during a public meeting at new Deputy Commissioner (DC) office complex Kishtwar said that peace is imperative for overall development of not only Kishtwar district but of the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir. Azad who arrived at Kishtwar today afternoon with a mission to unite people of two communities in the aftermath of August 9 Kishtwar Communal clashes said that by fighting each other, nothing could be achieved. He warned people against decisive forces who want to divide the people on the name of religion. While talking to the media persons on the sidelines of the meeting, Azad said that people of both the communities have moved forward and added that he felt happy to see people of both the communities together. He said that Kishtwar is like a home for him and he always thinks of its development and progress. He said that as per demand made by the public, he has announced up-gradation of 100 bedded Kishtwar hospital to 200 bedded for which union health ministry will provide the funds. He also assured all possible help to provide better medical care to the people of Kishtwar living in far flung areas. He had also assured funds for setting up of maternity hospital at Kishtwar. In a question regarding Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani recent statement in which hardliner Geelani justifies the use of Gun for achieving self determination, Azad while ducking the question said that it is not necessary to react to each and every statement issued by Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Earlier several political parties including JKNPP, BSP, NCP and even some senior members of Congress decided to boycott the meeting as they failed to enter inside the meeting hall due to security restrictions. BJP had decided to boycott in advance and none of their leader turned at meeting venue. Some politicians belonging from different political parties, besides few from Congress party men create uproar outside meeting hall and also rose anti administration slogans and later walkout from the meeting venue. While talking to Early Times, JKNPP State Secretary Anil Parihar said that District administration has sent them an invitation for their participation in the meeting with Union Health Minister and said that no proper arrangements have been made for them. He said that District administration has failed to felicitate their entries inside the meeting hall. He said that setting aside party politics, his party decided to meet with Union Health Minister so that they can put forth some public related issued and demands. Similar views were also made by BSP District President Des Raj Baghat, NCP leader Ajaiz Naik and senior citizen Syed Ahmed Shah. Even 95 year old veteran Congress leader Abdul Subhan Kichloo shows his resentment towards District Administration for creating mess. He also left the venue in anger. Among the prominent who accompanied Azad including MP Chowdhary Lal Singh, MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Thakur Jugal Bhandari, Tanveer Ahmed Kichloo, Qazi Jalludin and others. PDP delegation led by MLC Syed Asgar Ali also met with union health minister and put various public related issues before the Congress Minister. MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori also hosted a dinner for Azad in which people from different walks of life including social activists, politicians, representatives from both the communities also participated. |
