| School students celebrate Children’s day in unique way | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 14: Feeling aggrieved of a constant injustice with children, newly constituted forum Progressive Children Forum (PCF) comprising of young students of three local schools including GLS Public School, Gole Gujral road, Modern Secular Institute of Education Chinor, and Sunrise Higher Secondary School, Sikandarpur today took out peaceful protest demonstration in front of Press Club Jammu. Holding placards, criticizing political parties and so called civil society of country, the young protesters also raised slogans. Forum accused the rulers both at Union and State levels for their self praising tactics on every 14th November while celebrating India's first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru's birthday, merely as a formality towards the children of the nation. They also criticized long ruling Congress party for ignoring the welfare of children of the nation by not providing pure water and milk, playgrounds, cycling tracks and amusement parks for the real growth and enjoyment of their childhood. "No doubt Law on child labor was framed but even then it is being openly violated by the politicians, bureaucrats and business establishments, forum alleged. Nothing is being provided to the children by the government except polio vaccine or sub standard mid-day meals in few government schools where fictitious and false billing scams are being noticed, forum added. Politicians often proudly visit the schools as chief guests on every 14th. November as "Children day celebrations" while loudly talking of late Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and the children as audience but totally failed to provide them the basic amenities like safe foot paths even being encroached by the business community all around", Forum members alleged. Forum strongly condemned the Jammu administration and local civil society for repeated misuse of play grounds at Parade ground and Dushehra ground at Gandhi Nagar, while depriving the children of routine activities. As on date, no political party of the country has any agenda or manifesto for the much needed development of children facing health problems due to lack of pesticide & fertilizer free nutrition, forum alleged. So-called civil society of the country including the state of J&K also strongly condemned for badly failing to raise voice against ongoing injustice towards children, it added. Forum appealed to the big bosses of leading political parties of the country and the state of J&K to include a meaningful children welfare agenda in their 2014 elections manifestos in any case. It also appealed the civil society including media of the country for strongly insisting the political and administrative class towards immediately needed planning and implementation of children welfare schemes in near future. |
