Jagti Tenement Committee, Soan Kashmir Front list migrants' problems

Jammu, Nov 14: A joint meeting of the Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir Front J&K was held here at Jagti Nagrota Jammu today. The meeting was attended by the office members and bearers of both the committees.
The meeting was presided over by Shadi Lal Pandita, president. During the meeting the participants have expressed their grave concern over the attitude of the Government as well as authorities concerned in mitigating the sufferings of the inmates of the Jagti Migrant Camp and conceding to the demands of the Migrants.
The participants have decided to come on roads for series wise agitation to high light their genuine demands for early fulfillment by the authorities. Addressing the participants Shadi Lal Pandita has said that 14-16 hours power curtailments are being implemented in Migrants Camp Jagti which has made the inmates of this migrant camp to suffer a log. He has appealed the authorities for ensuring proper power supplies to this migrant camp as per past practice of supplying of power to different migrant camps in Jammu.. Pandita has said that the existing cash assistance relief does not meet the domestic needs of migrant families due to hike in prices of all essential commodities which has adversely affected the educational career of the students of migrant families. An appeal has been made for enhancement of cash assistance relief to the tune of Rs.15000/- per month per family.
As and when death of a family member of a family in Jagti migrant camp occurs the bereaved family has to face lot of difficulties in performing last rites of the dead bodies due to lack of proper accommodation. As per tradition/Religious rites 12 days of mourning are to be observed on demise of a person, as such it is appealed that 3 additional community Halls be got constructed in Jagti Migrant camp to facilitate the inmates to meet their requirements during mourning days.1000 posts of class IV needs to be created for accommodating such unemployed migrant youth who could not continue their studies beyond Matriculation due in poverty.
Presently migrants are being provided ration @2KG Atta, 9 Kg rice per soul which does not meet the requirements. The ration quota needs to be enhanced to 15 Kg rice, 4 Kg Atta per soul. Sugar is being provided to the relief holders @1kg per family which also needs to be enhanced to 3 kg per family. Those Kashmiri Pandit migrants who are serving indifferent departments are ignored and deprived of ration facilities. It is requested that Ration facilities may kindly be extended to the Govt. employees (Migrant) also.Grant of Scholarship for the school going children of Migrant community. The school going students of poor migrant families need to be granted Scholarship to the tune of Rs. 1000/- per month ensuring them to continue their studies for their bright future.
