JAMMU, Nov 15 : Shakti Punj Hiranagar trounced Gurah Mundia 3-1 to lift the volleyball trophy of the Range level Friendship Cup, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police under civil action programme at Sports Stadium Hiranagar, here today. In the final and prize distribution function, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua, Mohan Lal was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Additional.SP Yogesh Sharma was guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, SSP appreciated the efforts put in by the officials of Volleyball Association of J&K and Department of Youth Services and Sports in making the event a success. He said that such events serve the dual purpose of identifying the talent at the grass root level and at the same time provide an opportunity to the local talent to perform. Among others present were president Bar Association, Vijay Sharma, president of Volleyball Association of Kathua, ML Toofan, Ramesh Singh,Uday Singh, Kuljeet Singh, Bharat Bhushan, Jaswant Singh and Atman Singh. This event was part of the volleyball tournaments being organised by Range Police Headquarters Jammu at different places. In all, eight teams from Hiranagar, including those from J&K Police and CRPF took part in this two-day competition. matches were officiated by the technical penal including Joginder, Mandeep, Rajesh, Madan Lal, Chuni Lal, Mohinder and Sardari Lal . Meanwhile, the coordinator of the competition, Rajesh Gill informed that the second phase of the Range Police Volleyball Friendship Cup shall take place at Akhnoor on November 23 and November 24. |
