7 days on, updated cause list yet to appear on website
SIC malfunctioning comes to fore

JAMMU, Nov 15: The mal-functioning of State Information Commission (SIC) has once again come to fore as seven days have passed since the cause list of SIC Jammu had not been updated on its official site, putting people into the state of chaos and inconvenience.
Sources told that SIC updates weekly cause list on its official website informing complainants about the hearing of their cases. The first cause list for the month of November was updated on commission's website on the very first day this month till November 8 but the list for the second week has not been updated.
They further said that the SIC has done it before as well in order to mislead the complainants about the date of their hearings and to discourage their spirit to practice the Right to Information (RTI) tool which was introduced to bring transparency. Only 19 hearings were conducted till November 8 and many such cases pertaining to corruption, mal-functioning in Government departments are still waiting to be listed.
"Although there is huge pile of complaints with SIC Jammu Dr SK Sharma, things do not seem to be moving," they said further adding that usually three cases are listed per day but seven days passed till the site update. They alleged that at times this is done deliberately by the Commission to shield the some high profile cases in connivance with the officials of concerned departments whose against the case is filed.
"SIC often indulges in such practices of not updating cause list ostensibly to hush up the cases because if a complainant fails to appear on his hearing date the case is dismissed by the authority concerned," sources informed. "As per the guidelines of Commission, the cause list has to be updated on every Friday evening by SIC for the next week on its official website to inform the complainants about the hearing of their cases," sources said.
