| Azad, Omar take pride in governance deficit | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 15: With eye on the 2014 elections both coalition partners-National Conference and Congress have been making tall claims of "development" during their five years of rule. The leadership of both the parties project their achievements rather put their claims for the "development" of the state during last five years- something which is not reflected on ground by any means. The National Conference led by Omar takes credit for the 'development' and 'progress' the state has made during last five years while Ghulam Nabi Azad attributes the development of the state to the liberal funding of the Central Government in implementation of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes like RMSA, SSA, PMGSY and MGNREGA. What both the partners forget is the fact that the administrative inertia has afflicted the developmental situation in Jammu and Kashmir and misgovernance on their part and multiplied by the blame game between them has derailed the developmental process in the state. The two coalition partners- equally responsible for the administrative numbness and massive corruption and having nothing common in-between except for the accusations and counter accusations which has badly affected the State's hapless people. Azad claims that liberal funding by the Centre has changed the developmental scenario of the State and Omar claims that the state will witness massive development in next six months. But both the leaders forget, rather close their eyes over the fact that it is only the dismal performance of the ruling alliance which is reflected in every sector of life. However, the truth is that the coalition partners in the State have miserably failed to live up to the purpose and aims set by the people through their mandate as almost all tall promises made by them have been left unaddressed during the last five years. Not only the development of infrastructure has come to a grinding halt during these years but the Government has not been able to solve the basic problems of people. Various Centrally Sponsored Schemes are yet to be completed even if quick announcements of projects were made across the state. It is ironic, that the coalition partners are taking pride in blame game and in trading charges of corruption against each other. People are deprived of basic amenities. The winter is yet to set-in but electricity is not available, quality education and health care are the worst victims of official apathy, there is no accountability in the administration, corruption is rampant and still the leaders of coalition Government swears by the administrative efficiency of this Government. |
