Kishtwar, Nov 15: Former MoS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo who was forced to resign from the council of ministers in the aftermath ofAugust 9 Kishtwar communal violence got much needed support from Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad during latter's visit here. Azad during a public meeting while silencing the critics of Kichloo said that he (Sajjad) was in constant touch with him on the said day. He said that on the request of Sajjad Kichloo, he took up the matter with Defense Ministry for speedy deployment of Army in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas.
Azad while hailing the role played by Kichloo during Kishtwar riots said that Kichloo was himself targeted by the rioters with the motive to kill him. He said that Kichloo throughout the fateful day briefed him about the situation in Kishtwar. He said that despite being attacked by the rioters, Kichloo preferred to stay on in the riot hit town and made every possible attempt to restore peace and normalcy in Kishtwar.
