| Cop wounded in militant attack at Anantnag | | | Saahil Suhail
Anantnag, Nov 15: Militants fired at a police man at Janglat Mandi here this evening causing critical injuries to him. The militants also decamped with his weapon. A massive manhunt has been launched to nab the militants. The injured police man Injured cop identified as Abdul Rashid Tantaray (belt no. 1287/A) son of Abdul Salam Tantaray, a resident of Gundrahman, Tulmullah Ganderbal was rushed to SHMS hospital, Srinagar. The doctors, however, referred him to SKIMS where his condition is stated to be critical. Reports said pistol borne militants fired at the constable around 7.10 p.m just outside the District Hospital. Commanding Officer of 9 RR was quoted by CNS to have said that they continuously receive inputs about the presence of militants. "As we cordon off the area, the militants flee from the spot. They are evading the arrests and don't confront us," he had said. Commanding Officer further warned that if the militants whose number is high couldn't be neutralized they can disrupt the forthcoming Parliament and Assembly elections. Meanwhile, highly placed sources revealed that Anantnag police was having reports about the possible militant attack due which a signal was communicated to all the police stations directing its men to avoid rooming in markets unnecessarily. |
