Indore, Nov 15: Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Krishna Kumar Mishra on Friday claimed that he conducted a sting operation that shows how chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s brother Narendra Singh Chouhan was involved in taking money for facilitating allotment of a mine to a business firm. At Indore Press Club, Mishra played the CD showing Narendra’s point man Ajay Tiwari accepting bribe from a representative of Shyam Industries in a white Tavera car outside Narendra's bungalow at Alkapuri Colony in Bhopal.
"The CD is just the tip of the iceberg. We will later reveal how CM’s other relatives are also involved in taking bribes. The so called Mr Clean CM had been calling the Congress corrupt. Now who is corrupt?" Mishra said. Asked why he went public with the CD now if the alleged deal was struck between 2007 and 2009, Mishra said he was waiting for 2013 assembly elections to “reveal the truth about Chouhan family”. Narendra was a government school teacher who took voluntary retirement last year and is currently campaigning for the BJP in the state.
Demanding the CM’s resignation on moral grounds, the Congress leader said he will hand over the CD to the Cyber Cell of the police for verification. “If they find the CD fake, I am willing to go to jail. If it is genuine, the police should register an FIR against the accused," he said. Mishra said he and his team spent approximately Rs. 1.75 crore to trap Narendra. The money was spent on floating Shyam Industries, signing an MoU with the state government for allotment of laterite mines and bribing Narendra. He also claimed the CD contains records of conversations between chief minister's office and Shyam Industries CEO, the firm representative and Tiwari and the meeting with Narendra. Denying allegations, Narendra said he had rented the bungalow at Alkapuri Colony and didn’t own it. "Ajay Tiwari is from Ujjain but he doesn't work on my behalf. I know Sudhir Sharma. Many people meet me because I am the CM's brother. This does not mean that I take bribes," he told HT. He also denied taking money from JP Cement Industries in Rewa, Sidhi.
‘The Sting Operation’
According to Mishra, Shyam Industries signed the MoU during global investors' meet held in Indore in 2007 and in Gwalior for allotment of laterite mines. The company's CEO SS Khare contacted Tiwari for obtaining mining leases in Sagar and Chhattarpur.
In 2008, Tiwari introduced him to Narendra at his Bhopal residence after taking Rs. 5 lakh. After the meeting, Tiwari told Khare the company's file will be cleared only on paying more than Rs. 20 lakh.
“Tiwari also said that they have taken Rs1 crore for allotting mines in Jhabua to one Sudhir while owners of JP Cement Plant also gave money to Narendra for setting up a cement plant in Sidhi," Mishra said. Tiwari told Shyam Industries they will have to make Narendra or one of his men a partner in the mines. Tiwari also told them that Alkapuri bungalow was gifted by Sudhir to Chouhan. According to the deal, Rs. 20 lakh was given to Tiwari in the white Tavera car outside Chouhan's bungalow at Alkapuri Colony. The car had red beacon on it. The land and bungalow cost more than Rs. 1 crore. A native of Ujjain, Tiwari was a cloth supplier in state tribal welfare department but became Narendra’s “broker” after coming in contact with him. The two took supply orders for tribal welfare department from district collector in Ujjain, Dewas, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Mandla, Satna and Rewa, according to Mishra.
