| GHSS Marwah principal's letter alleges mass copying in rural Kishtwar | | JKBOSE, Education Department remain numb | | Asif Iqbal Naik KISHTWAR, Dec 7: Uncovering the nexus of mass copying in rural areas of Kishtwar District, particularly in Marwah area, Principal Government Higher Secondary School (GHHS) Marwah in his letter addressed to Chairman Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education Jammu, Chief Education Officer has not only questioned the fairness of 12th class examination held in Center No: 703 and 704, but has also leveled serious allegations against Superintendents and Deputy Superintendents of the said centres. As per the letter vide No: GHSS/M/13/448-454 dated 9/11/2013, the Principal stated that after receiving the complaint from the general public with regard to open mass copying in Center No: 703 and 704 wherein the people alleged that the Superintendents and Deputy Superintendents of both these centers demanded Rs. 10000 from the students as a fee for allowing them open mass copying during the examination , he (Principal) being as overall supervisor of the examination personally make a surprise visit to these examination centers and found the public complaint as genuine. He further stated that on scrutiny the sitting plan of both the examination centers were found as pick and choose where in the same students were found repeatedly in same sitting order while talented and poor students were teased and disturbed for want of money. He said that few students were allowed to move outside examination center frequently, but did not act as he feared for his life due to constant threat from the mass copying nexus. He said that he had even write a letter to them urging them not to indulge in malpractices during examination, but added that they paid no heed to his instruction and termed a blind eye towards his concern as a result of which an environment of lawlessness and helplessness prevailed among the masses. In another letter written to Chief Education Officer , the Principal alleged that the superintendent even offered him the bribe to mull his voice. He said that even during 10th class examination similar practice was followed. He said that the superintendent while offering him the bribe has challenged him and instead informed him that even board officials at Kishtwar were indulge in corrupt practices and further added that he had already paid them the money. "Mai Kissi sey nahi darta hoon, sab log paisa khate hay, board waloon nai pehle hi apna hissa le rakha hay. Jab ki postage aur carriage charges tak nahi mili hain, phir maine koun sa gunah kiya hay ( I don't fear from any--- everyone take money… Board officials have already taken their share--- they even don't paid use postage and handling charges-then what wrong I have done by taking money)" Principal GHSS Marwah quoted the superintendent of examination as saying in his letter. He also alleged that head of the examination had made special arrangements for money payers for felicitating of mass copying, beside also recovered nearly 60 books from the examination center during his visit. But to the utter surprise, neither CEO Kishtwar nor JKBOSE officials initiate any action against the corrupt practices as alleged by none other than Principal of Higher Secondary School Marwah himself. Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar on the bases of complaint lodged by some social activists about an alleged nexus between teachers and board officials has initiated an inquiry into the allegation of malpractice going on in education system and appointed ADDC Kishtwar and Principal Degree College Kishtwar as inquiry officers with the direction to submit the detail report to him in two weeks time. Both ADDC and Principal Degree College have already begun the enquiry. It is pertinent to mention that menace of mass copying in twin Districts of Doda and Kishtwar has registered alarming increase. The concerned officials, it is believes have made a fortune by abusing the sanctity of examinations. |
