JAMMU, Dec 7: Troops of the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion located at Gool, prevented a disaster at Dagnari, Ramban today. A major forest fire started at Dagnari threatening the local habitats including civilians and their cattle and property. The local villagers approached the post Commander to help douse the fire at Dagnari, located almost one km from the post.
A team of jawans led by an NCO rushed to the spot and controlled the fire from further spreading. Seven fire extinguishers were used to subdue the flames. With timely action by the Army personnel no loss to life and property was reported. The efforts of the team of the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion were lauded by one and all.The unit functions under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform). |
