| Charak senses Dogra heritage endangered, appeals for separate 'Duggar Channel' | | Says DSS will struggle for preserving cultural identity of Duggar Pradesh | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 22: Former member CWC and President Dogra Sadhar Sabha (DSS) Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak Sunday during a press conference here in Jammu sensed Dogra heritages endangered. Charak said that the portion of Bahu Fort that collapsed after incessant rain is a matter of concern for the Jammuites as the same is the part of their cultural heritage. He admitted that the efforts of the government to protect this monument are not welcoming and asked for the renovation of the historical structure at an earliest. Thakur also appealed for a separate 'Duggar Channel' by the Doordarshan Kendra to counter the false and vicious propaganda started from the other side of the border to provide an opportunity to the budding Dogra artisans in the field of Art and Culture. Charak also expressed concern over the people living near border areas who, according to him are facing numerous problems due to continuous firing and shelling from other side of the hill. Replying questions of media persons regarding lingering on policy for the issuance of Dogra Certificate, he said during his tenure as the minister, all concerned including the then Deputy Commissioners, Tehsildars were directed to issue Dogra certificates but with the present government policy, he is not aware of. Regarding another question on heading of Radio Kashmir Jammu by a Kashmiri and renovation of Mubarak Mandi heritage complex he replied that the heading of Radio Kashmir Jammu by an Editor-in-Chief who is Kashmiri is a matter of concern and he will highlight this issue to provide the space to a Dogra or a person who knows Gojri language as well. "We are in touch with five to six agencies of Rajasthan for their help in restoration of the Mubarak Mandi complex at an earliest", he said. Charak also disclosed before the media persons about the meetings held with Sushil Kumar Shinde, Union Home Minister, Chandresh Kumari Katoch, Union Minister for Culture, Manish Tiwari, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and state Chief Minister Omar Adbullah for their help in strengthening the Dogri language and said that all are ready for the help. |
