Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 22: Urging the people of Jammu province to make the bandh a grand success, the BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma today asked Justice R.C. Gandhi (Retd.) and the NC-led coalition government to reveal the names of all the three hundred persons who submitted their affidavits before the One Man Inquiry Commission on August 9 Kishtwar communal violence
Addressing a press conference here today, Jugal Kishore said that on what basis Justice Gandhi gave a clean chit to NC leader Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo.
He also asked the commission and the government to disclose the names of "50 to 60" witnesses the One Man Inquiry Commission examined to reach the conclusion that Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo was "victim" of the August 9 Kishtwar episode. He, in addition, asked the commission and the government to make public "the other evidences" that made the One Man Commission believe that Kitchloo was innocent and certain officials in the civil and police administration failed to discharge their duties and restore law & order and prevent the loss of life of Arvind Bhagat and properties of the minority community worth crores of rupees.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that "Making public the names of those who submitted affidavits as also of those who were examined by the One Man Commission is a must to clear all the cobwebs of confusion and reassure the aggrieved minority community that the commission has not connived with the government to ensure a clean chit to Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo".
Commenting on the findings of the One Man Commission that Deputy Commissioner and SP of Kishtwar, besides other local officials, failed to discharge their duties, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that while the BJP does believe that the local Administration allowed the situation to deteriorate and hooligans to terrorise and attack the minority community, the BJP just cannot buy the argument that Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo was innocent as he was very much present in the town. He reiterated that the BJP will take up the issue in a big way and expose the evil game plan and communal forces within and outside the government.
