Kishtwar Dec 22: After long period of dry spell, over night instant rains followed by heavy snowfall though bring an end to long dry spells, but also disrupt the normal life in Kishtwar District. Though the vehicular movement at District headquarters remained normal, but the traffic movement on various road links remains effected. The electricity is many far flung areas of the District is cut off since last night, but at District headquarter, the electricity was restored within few hours. There are reports of heavy snowfall at many places including Padder, Marwah, Dachhan, Chatroo, Saroor, Sarthal, Bhunzwah, Nagsini, Palmar and other parts of the District where 1 to 2 feet snowfall was recorded since last evening. Kishtwar town recorded 8 to 10 inch of snowfall. This year Kishtwar witness the snowfall nearly four weeks in advance as compared to last year. The elders believe that the snowfall comes at a right time and will play an important role in addressing the water sacristy during summer as the snow witnesses during the month of December lasts for long period. The administration was in constant touch with officials at Tehsil and block level to keep an eye on natural disasters. |
