| PAF stages dharna against GREF | | |

Kishtwar, Dec22: Public Awareness Front Kishtwar under leadership of Chairman Riaz Ahmed Zarger and its President Shakir Siddiqui today organised one day 'Dharna' at Shaheedi Mazaar, Kishtwar to highlight the various issues of public interest including the poor condition of road from Drabshala to Kishtwar and particularly two KM road stretch from Malipath Chowk to Kuleed chowk. The speakers highlighted the condition of National Highway from Drabshalla to Kishtwar which is managed by GREF. They also expressed their resentment on the pathetic condition of road from Malipeth to Kuleed Chowk which instead of National Highway look like narrow road with no place for parking adding to the woes of the public. The speaker said that there are electric poles on the road which need to be shifted a sides, besides the road from Malipeth to Kuleed Chowk needed immediate attention including widening as huge traffic jams has become the routine matter on this road. It was also highlighted that the fencing of Government Higher Secondary School, Boys which was dismantled by GREF authorities for widening of road with the promise that they would re-erect the fencing but the fencing is still in the same dismantled state even after three years. Later, a delegation of PAF led by Shakir Sidiqui met District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar and presented a memorandum to him highlighting all these issues of public interest. DDC Kishtwar gave patience hearing to the issues raised by the PAF and assured them that administration has taken key interest towards upgradation and maintenance of 28 KM road stretch from Drabshala to Kishtwar and city roads. |
