JAMMU, Dec 30: Sittu Club Simbal Camp and Cantt Star Satwari won the inaugural matches of the Ist Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sub-Junior Hockey Championship, organised by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation under the aegis of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today. In the first match of the day, Sittu Club trounced Guru Nanak Nagar Club by five goals to one. From Sittu Club, Ramandeep netted three goals striking in the seventh, ninth and 42nd minute of the match. Harminder Pal (52nd) and Ramneek Singh (59th) added one goal each. From Guru Nanak Club, Bikram Singh reduced the margin striking in the 13th minute. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Cantt Star Satwari defeated Army Public School (APS) Miran Sahib by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Parvinder Singh, who sounded the board in the 10th minute converting a penalty corner. Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Chairman Sain Charitable Trust Jammu, Dr Roop Lal Sharma, who was chief guest. Interacting with the participating teams, Dr Roop Lal stressed on the need of encouraging more and more youngsters towards the game of hockey. Member State Sports Council, Ranjit Kalra was guest of honour. Prominent among others present were Dr Taran Singh, Romal Singh, Jagjeet Kour, Harcharan Singh, Amardeep Singh, Avtar Singh, Ravinder Singh, Tirlok Singh and Davinder Bakshi. FIXTURE: APS Akhnoor shall take on Shaheed Bhagat Singh Club at 1 pm, followed by the second match between SOS School and Young Star Simbal Camp at 2.30 pm |
