| Cong likely to show door to Agri Minister Ghulam Hassam Mir | | | Asif Iqbal Naik JAMMU, Dec 30: In a significant development, Congress is mulling option of dropping Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir to pay way for accommodation of either a Congress MLA or an MLC so as to give strength to party leaders ahead of upcoming Parliamentary and state election. Sources within Congress party said that Congress has made its mind to drop Ghulam Hassan Mir who is presently Agriculture Minister in Omar Abdullah led Congress-NC Government since last over five years. Congress sources informed the "Early Times" that internal probe conducted by Union Ministry of Defence into J & K payoff scandal involving former Army Chief Rtd. General V K Singh found role of Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Minister as dubious and did not give clean chit to him. Sources said that Defence Ministry in its probe has questioned role of Mir and termed him as dubious character. Sources in Defence Ministry also stated that Congress party high command is well aware about the probe finding of defence and added that the ball is in the court of Congress party high command to decide about the fate of Agriculture minister. Sources though did not elaborated more on the internal probe conducted by the defence ministry with the view that leakage of probe report will make a direct impact on the internal security of the state. The sources said that there are remote chances that the Government will bring the finding of the report public. Meanwhile the Congress sources in Jammu and Kashmir confirmed to "Early Times" that party high command is mulling the option of dropping of Ghulam Hassan Mir as minister; but prefer to remain quit when asked about the reasons behind dropping him. Sources said that within a week or two week; party high command is also mulling the option of change in portfolio of the ministers. |
