JAMMU, Dec 30: It was a night to remember for Jammuites as one of the most notable figures in the world of Punjabi music, Gurdas Mann, with his inimitable style of singing enthralled the audience during a musical show to mark the culmination of 'Jammu Festival-2013'.
Mann, who undoubtedly was the centre of attraction among the entire lot of invited artists to perform during Jammu Festival with his pulsating voice and powerful performance live up the expectations of his fans.
As soon as Mann came on stage in his trademark traditional attire and when he greeted everyone, the crowd waiting for his appearance roared in cheer.
Mann mesmerized the gathering of around ten thousand with his popular Punjabi songs including folk and traditional.
The king of Punjabi music began the show by singing a song dedicated to the Almighty. The song 'Hari Om' was more than enough to pump up the adrenaline of thousands of his fans, who were waiting for their favourite singer's arrival since 5:00 pm.
While 'Ishqe Daa Gidda' changed the mood of the show and gave it a momentum, the audience got swayed with the pulsating rhythm of his evergreen Sufi song 'Challa'.
Much to the delight of his fan following in the 'city of temples' Mann also sung his other popular numbers like 'Roti' and 'Cycle'.
But, it was Mann's foot tapping number 'Boot Polishan' and one of his all time hits 'Mamla Gadbad Hai' which made the almost all audience to put on their dancing shoes.
The gathering particularly youngsters couldn't resist themselves to shake their legs when the veteran Punjabi singer sang these songs.
If Gurdas Mann's performance was the high point of Jammu Festival's concluding programme, the mismanagement of the Tourism Department attached to it soured the festivities to some extent.
By far the biggest flaw was the misinformation on parking venue as the Tourism Department failed to convey the prior information of parking arrangements to the general public.
Several people had to make rounds of roads leading to Gulshan Ground, either from Bikram Chowk or Railway Station side to park their vehicles as they were clueless as to where to halt their cars, motorcycles, scooters and other modes of transportation.
"No doubt Gurdas Mann captivated the music lovers but the organizers mismanagement spoiled the mood….The organizers should have made proper parking arrangements as due to lack of parking space, people like me were made to suffer," Sachin Sharma said.
"I reached the venue at 4:45 pm but to my utter dismay had to go here and there in search of a parking space for at least 25 minutes as the policemen refused to allow halting my car on either side of the road in front of Gulshan Ground… After hectic efforts I was able to park my vehicle in a nearby government office complex," he added.
The handling of crowd by the police inside Gulshan Ground was also not up to the mark since the people pushed each other to gain entry into the venue through a narrow make shift entrance.
