ANANTNAG, Dec 30 : A Congress Sarpanch, who is believed to be a close confident of Tourism Minister Gulam Ahmad Mir, has allegedly duped a poor man from tribal community of South Kashmir's Dooru area on the pretext of providing him a hut under centrally sponsored housing Scheme IAY. Habib Khan, father of five children resident of Halisardar Dooru told Early Times that Congress Sarpanch identified by him as Iqbal Ahmad in year 2011 duped him on the pretext of providing him hut under IAY Scheme. "He (Iqbal) visited our Gujar basti and said that he is enlisting names for IAY schemes, I being the poorest in my neighborhood requested him to include my name in the list which he later did and assured that he get sanctioned a hut for me." Habib Khan said. He alleged that after couple of days he visited their house again and informed them that he couldn't sanction the hut, however told us that if they can pay money sanction could be made. "He directly told me that sanction could be made if I can pay him. So he easily lured me and took 13 thousand rupees in three installments from time to time but since then besides repeated visits to his house neither he is returning the money nor have we got any benefit from the IAY Scheme." Habib Khan said. Similarly, another Congress sarpanch of Hangipora has also duped people especially poor on the pretext of providing them benefits from centrally sponsored housing scheme IAY.
