Lamberi widow accuses police of hushing up her husband's murder case

Jammu, Dec 30: A widow whose husband died under suspicious circumstances, has alleged that police was investigating the blind murder as an accident case as it was under the influence of some local politicians who want to save the skin of the accused person/persons. Neelam Devi widow of Jagan Nath resident of Lamberi (under Noushera Police station) who along with her two brothers today came to meet Danesh Rana ,DIG said that her husband was a part of barat of Deputy Lal which left for Razal village on December 6 from Lamberi. "As all the baratis came back and when Jagan Nath didn't return a search was conducted by the family members and relatives and on December 7 his body was found lying on road side near village Lamberi" said Neelam. After investigation police registered a case for an accident against unidentified persons at Lamberi police post and started investigation which couldn't be completed till today. She alleged that her husband was brutally killed by some persons of the area and he had deep wounds on his head and his right leg was broken. "We brought the matter in the notice of some senior officers at Noushera, including ASP but nothing was done on our complaint. Then we approached the DIG few days ago and he directed the ASP to take action on our complaint. But despite that nothing has been done in this matter" said Bishamber brother of Neelam Devi.
Today they again came to Rajouri to meet DIG but he was out of station. While interacting with some scribes at Rajouri Neelam Devi alleged that they are not satisfied by the investigation being conducted by Noushera police and demanded reinvestigation of the case especially by inspector Zakir Saheen Mirza, SHO, Thanamandi. Purshotam Sharma, ASP Noushera said that the police has started investigation for suspicious death and has not yet reached at any conclusion. "After the instructions from DIG police the case has been handed over to inspector Yash Pal Sharma, SHO Noushera and investigation is in progress" said ASP.
