| HC directs FD to file status report by today | | PIL on illegal Saw Mill | | | Jammu, Dec 30: Taking serious note of an illegal saw mill run in connivance of official respondents, a division bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi directed the Forest Department to file status report by tomorrow. The PIL has been filed by CB Salathia. The court observed that according to the affidavit filed by SSP Samba that the forest dept has fixed the date November 22, 2013 for dismantling the saw mill and sought police help. On the appointed day and time, the forest dept did not reach and the report suggest that they on their own on November 21, 2013 went on spot. What is the result of going on spot is not revealed. The court took serious note and observed that the conduct of forest dept is not appreciable particularly where there are allegations of connivance of forest dept with private respondent and directed that to file status report by tomorrow i.e. is December 31, 2013.
