Jammu, Dec 30: NABARD consultancy services (NABCONS) organised a one day capacity building programme on forward markets at Ghagwal in district Samba. The programme was organised by District Development Manager of NABARD, Surinder Singh, on behalf of Forward Markets Commision, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The programme was inaugurated by Jatinder Singh, Naib Tehsildar, Ghagwal, while Avtar Krishan Choudhary, J&K Bank, Upinder Sharma, J&K Grameen Bank, Tilak Raj, Agriculture Extension Officer, Vinay Vilas, Horticulture Development Officer, Avinash Singh, Sarpanch and Karan Singh were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Surinder Singh, DDM NABARD said that the programme was organised to create awareness about the existence of commodity exchanges so that farmers could take advantage of these exchanges to get appropriate price for their farm produce. He asserted that the presently it was the tendency of the farmers that they cultivate the crop based on present price. The farmers could take the benefit of future markets and subsequently shift to other crops which may yield better returns. Jatinder Singh, Naib Tehsildar, Ghagwal expressed his gratitude towards NABARD for organising this programme in his area and appealed the participants to take benefit of such programmes. |
