Early Times Report Kathua, Dec 30: Angered over failure of National Conference (NC) led coalition government for its failure to implement 73rd and 74thamendment of Panchayati Raj Act, Youth Congress activists under the leadership of Parmjit Singh Puma, Pankaj Bastora and Pankaj Sharma took out a procession at Kathua. The activists, who started procession from Shaheedi Chowk, had a minor scuffle with police, when they former were trying to march towards secretariat. Youth Congress activists were raising slogans against Omar Abdullah and for empowerment of panchayats. Addressing the protesters, Lok Sabha president Udhampur-Doda constituency, Advocate Pankaj Basotra said that the state government was not serious to empower the pachayats. He said that few months back, Congress had passed a resolution for empowernment of Panchayats, but it was very unfortunate that coalition partner, National Conference (NC) was deliberately creating hurdles in strengthening of democratic institutions. "The inefficiency of Chief Minister has forced us to come on roads again", he said, adding that YC would not back track from its stand over the implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments. Param Jeet Singh Lok Sabha General Secretary appealed Sarpanches and Panches to further cooperate Youth Congress in the struggle for rights to panchayts.Pankaj Sharma AYC President Kathua, Anayat Parvez ,AYC President Bani, Anil Salaria AYC President Basoli, Kuldeep Khajuria AYC Vice President Billawar, Ashwani Sharma ,Romi Sharma, Advocate Kasturi Lal Khajuria, Vikas Sharma,Sunny, Kamlesh, Mohit Sharma, Karan,Uttam Chand Sharma and many others were present on the occasion. |
