| Azad reviews progress in Valley hospitals | | | early times report Srinagar, Dec 30 : The union minister for health and family welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad today visited several hospitals across valley and directed the concerned officials to compete and upgradation and construction of healthcare institutions in old city, Chanapora and Pampore. Azad on his visit to JLNM and Gousia Hospital in old city reviewed the ongoing progress of the upgradation. He also directed the officials to provide better medical facilities to the people at large and assured that the high tech machines for the latest testing facilities will be introduced in the hospitals in near future. The union health minister also reviewed the construction of district hospitals at Chanapora and Pampore. He stressed for the timely completion of the work on the hospitals so that the people in the respective districts could be benefitted at large. Azad observed that the people of the state in the past had no proper medical facilities available and that the priority of the central government is to improve the healthcare sector of the state. He further stated that the central government has prioritized that the health sector in the state and it must be upgraded and the best medical facilities be provided to the people. He said the demands for the latest equipment made by the people who met him at Pampore will be considered on priority. Besides, he directed the executing agencies to start work on the one more block in JLNM hospital and the funds will be released before March 2014. He was satisfied with the work in Chanpora hospital and assured the authorities that additional funds will be allocated for the same. Mr Azad asked the authorities at Psychiatry hospital to utilize the already allocated amount (Rs 28 Crores in last three years) before yearning for more allocations. |
