| State witnesses dismal governance, rampant corruption: AMM | | 5 years of coalition Govt | | early times report Srinagar, Jan 7: As the year 2013 came to an end and the present government completed its five years, it came out with tall claims of great performance which were mere advertisements. The objective, impartial and honest analysis, however, belies these claims and indicates that the overall performance in regard to better the miserable life of the overwhelming majority in the state is dismal and far from being self evident. The Awami Mutahida Mahaz feels that the claims of the govt. are only white lies. The fact is that the dispensation has done negligible in all the vital sectors concerning the masses. The administration is so weak, ill-prepared and insensitive that even a few inches of snow puts the whole life in Kashmir and other areas of the state out of gear deflating the plump claims of the government. Despite various commissions and organizations, the corruption in the state has become a way of life and government has failed to take any concrete measure which could at least minimize this curse. Transparency and accountability is seen nowhere. Malpractices, favoritism and delayed justice have become rampant and gained administrative sanction. Human Rights Violations continue unabated, police high-handedness and indiscreet use of force against people protesting for their genuine demands continues. The "zero tolerance" has been consigned to archives. Investigations and inquires regarding human rights violations are either pending or remain unimplemented, making mockery of the govt. promises and actions. The youth of the state which is our future hope remains desolate and depressed. The performances of Women's Commission and Corporation have also been next to zero. The much talked Panchayati Raj is still in doldrums. The problem of unemployment has not been addressed in a wholesome way even the posts and positions available in the govt. Sector have mostly remained unfilled to date. The recruiting agencies are ill-equipped; lack transparency and work in such a lethargic and incompetent way that courts have to interfere with the result recruitment of a few posts takes years together. Almost nothing has been done to create employment opportunities in private sector in an out of the state. The plight of daily wagers, casual labourers, contractual employees; need based workers' and Anganwadi workers and helpers and ASHA workers are not being paid their meager dues in time. The grievances of employees are yet to be addressed. Agriculture and horticulture which still supports the majority has been ignored. There is no availability of quality inputs on fair prices, no storage infrastructure and marketing facilities. Handicraft sector too face a number of problems and this age-old valued industry is on the decline. Hard working artisans continue to live a miserable life. Institutions which are a key for good governance were deliberately weakened and virtually remain paralyzed. The government has also not given any serious attention to strengthen the age-old bonds among various regions and communities of the state thereby providing opportunities for divisive and disruptive forces to thrive. AMM believes that an alternative policy which ensures free health-care, universal free education; food security and right to employment is need of the hour and the govt. has not delivered in this respect. |
