Early Times Report
Samba, Jan 7: Ridiculing coalition government for highlighting its five years achievements, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that except legalizing corruption and depriving people of their democratic rights this worst ever corrupt regime has nothing to highlight.
"Five year tenure of Omar Abdullah government is rightly described by political experts as dark period in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir", said PDP's MP candidate Yash Pal Sharma, while addressing a public meeting in Sumb area of Samba district.
He said that this regime has become a non performing liability on the people of Jammu and Kashmir. While addressing the meetings organized by Kabla Singh at Sumb, while as in Amala by Jaswinder, Chanori by Dr Qasim Din and at Jhallapur by Lehar Chand, Sharma while taking a jibe at coalition government for taking credit of conducting Panchayat elections in the state, Sharma said that this regime has brazenly dishonored mandate of the people who turned up in large number of participate in Panchayat elections which were held in the year 2011. "Except conducting elections nothing has been done to empower Panchayats and strengthening Panchayat Raja Institutions in J&K", he said and asked, "Why elections for the Block Development Councils (Beds) have yet not conducted despite the fact that elections process for Panchayats was completed in the year 2011?"
Chiding Omar Abdullah government for "advertising" its "achievements", Sharma pointed out that eroding sanctity of democratic institutions was another noticeable achievements in this government.
"For the last three years this government has been blatantly postponing civic bodies elections with one or other excuse", he said and reminded that government had promised to conduct civic bodies elections two years back in Governor's address but the same promise remained only on papers.
"National Conference and Congress are equally responsible for depriving people of their democratic rights", he said, adding, "Achievements of this government appeared only on papers". Dubbing much touted Sher-i-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) as cruel joke with educated unemployed youth of the State, Sharma regretted that young Chief Minister has betrayed youth who are the worst victim of rampant corruption and backdoor appointments. Sharma challenged the government come out with exact number of educated unemployed who have taken benefit under SKEWPY scheme. He said that instead of providing any relief to the unemployed youth of state, this scheme has rather compounded their woes.
He regretted that government has failed to regularize daily wagers and contractual employees but back-door appointment has been going unabated. On this occasion Swaran Singh Chib Dist President Rajput Sabha, Samba joined PDP along with his supporters.
Ch Hussain Ali Wafa, Hamid Choudhary, Maj Gen (retd.) R S Jamwal, Haji Taj Khan, Pawan Dev Singh, Banu Pratap Singh, Saleem Khan, Madan Lal, Javed Choudhary, Anita Devi, Sunny Sangral, Sukhdev Singh, Shashi Pal, Praveen Singh Kattal and others also addressed the meetings.
