| Five years later, Govt charge sheets Mahant in Amarnath land row | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has produced a charge sheet against Mahant Rameshwar Das and others in Jammu high court in an incident that reportedly took place during Amarnath land Row. A charge sheet was filed by the Nawabad Police station against Mahant Rameshwar Das, Saint Som Nath and Saint Vidya Nand under section 307 of CRPC at Jammu high court on December 8, 2013. In the charge sheet it has been mentioned that Mahant Rameshwar Das had injured some Police officials with his vehicle at Abhinav theater during Amarnath Land Row. It is pertinent to mention here that in the agreement signed between government and Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) in august 2008, it was decided that no legal action will be taken against any of the agitators agitating during the land row. "Government is violating the agreement, they are trying to incite the minority community of Jammu," said Mahant Rameshwar Das, Mahant of Purani Mandi Temple. "This government is paying 5 Lakhs and jobs to the stone palters in Kashmir, and the people who were fighting for the rights of Jammu are being charge sheeted in the fake cases," he added. Mahant warned that if the government didnot take back these cases, a fresh agitation will be started in Jammu, which will affect the entire state. Abhijit Sharma, a scholar of Jammu University said, "I think the government is trying to play the 2008 again in Jammu to get advantage in the forthcoming elections, as it is very crucial year for all the political parties, National Conference and congress led government is trying to play communal card in the state, to hide their failure in the last five years." |
