| Gurupurab celebrated with religious fervor across state | | | Early Times Report Jammu/Srinagar, Jan 7: Amid chill, Gurpurab, birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Sing Ji founder of Khalsa Panth and 10th Sikh Guru was celebrated with religious fervor across Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Thousands of Sikhs across Jammu and Kashmir division visited the Gurdwara to join special prayers. The main function in Jammu was held at Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Devi ji Chand Nagar by District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu. While in Kashmir division it was held at Gurdwara Chatipadshahi at Rainawari in Srinagar. People belonging to the Sikh community, attired in colourful dresses, paid obeisance at Gurdwaras. All the Gurudwaras across Jammu and Kashmir witnessed huge rush of pilgrims. On the occasion, at Jammu Ragi Jatha's from Delhi and other places recited Grubani Bhai Manpreet Singh Ragi Jatha from Delhi among others recitedly Gurbani, which spell bound the pilgrims. Bhai Manmohan Singh preacher of Sikh Gurmat Gyan Missionary College and Harsimran Singh Anandpuri threw light on the Sikh history and golen realms of Sikhism. Similar celebrations were also held in other local Gurdwaras across Jammu region while in Srinagar celebrations were held at Gurudwarea Jawahar Nagar, Allochibagh, Barzulla, Tral, Rangreth, Pattan and Baramulla and others. The Gurdwaras were beautifully decorated to mark the occasion. Many religious and social organizations had arranged 'langars' for the devotees at these Gurdwaras. Meanwhile in Kashmir division, All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee on the eve of birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Sing greeted the whole Sikh community especially the Sikhs of J&K. Despite the severe cold, Sikhs visted the gurudwaras, organized langar and on this occasion the Shabad Kertan was recited. APSCC chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina, said that people should follow the foot prints of Guru and learn from his sacrifices which he made for the well being of humanity, with respect to all communities. He adorned the Sikhs with the five K's and transformed them into a martial community for the protection of humanity without any bias of cast, creed or religion. On the occasion of Gurupurab, APSCC also prayed for peace and prosperity of J&K state. |
