| NMFGM, YM urge GoI to enhance ration quota for JK | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Jan 7: Nature-Mankind Friendly Global Movement (NMFGM) and Youth Movement (YM) have strongly pleaded with the Government of India for providing ration quota to Jammu and Kashmir as per 2011 census. In a press statement issued here today, the district president of the Nature-Mankind Friendly Global Movement Sahib Singh, senior activists of the Movement Roop Lal and Ashok Khajuria and the spokesperson of the Youth Movement Sanjeev Verma alleged that the state government has failed to receive the required ration quota from the centre as per the required quantity in the state. They said that being the border state, the ration provided to J&K on the basis of 2001 census was not fulfilling the state's requirement as population of the state has increased manifold since 2001. They said that JK receives a monthly quota of 63067 metric tons (MTs) of ration from the Centre at the scale of 35 kilograms per family per month for 18.02 lakh Ration Ticket (RT) holders and this is not sufficient to meet the requirement of 19.60 lakh RT holders currently registered with the CAPD and left the state to face the deficit of about 55.30 MTs of food grains per month at the existing scale. |
