| Govt tightens noose around latecomers in Civil Sect | | Biometric face recognition system | | Arun Singh JAMMU, Jan 20: After failing to implement "Bio-Metric Attendance System" in Civil Secretariat to tighten the noose around the latecomers, Government has introduced the new "Biometric Face Recognition System" in Civil Secretariat for attendance of the employees by replacing old one and issued strict instruction to all administrative secretaries for its compliance. Taking strong cognizance of non compliance of the earlier installed Bio-Metric Attendance System, Government today issued fresh order to all administrative secretaries to the Government and nodal officers of all departments to direct employees of their respective departments to mark their attendance in the newly set up Biometric Face Recognition System with immediate effect. According to Government order which reads that in order to ensure effective implementation of the 'Biometric Face Recognition System' in the Civil Secretariat and impressed upon all the Administrative Secretaries to direct the employees of the Civil Secretariat under their administrative control to get enrolled under the new attendance system and mark their attendance, electronically through the 'Biometric Face Recognition System' installed at the entry points of Main and Mini Block of Civil Secretariat. Idea behind installation of new attendance system in the civil secretariat premises was to target those employees who are habitual latecomers as it was noticed that the employees are not marking their attendance through the smart card system as they continue to adopt the old system of recording the attendance in writing. In this way, they are deceiving their seniors by remaining absent for hours together, they said. "Government has also decided that all employees, especially habitual latecomers, attending their respective offices late by half an hour or more would be punished and their half-day casual leave would be deducted," said a senior official preferring anonymity. |
