| alk of temples incomplete without major shrines: PNBMT | | Row over Religious Shrine Bill | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 20: As the row between Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust and Dharmarth Trust gets loud, the former which has been spearheading the struggle for enactment of a comprehensive legislation for protection of Temples and Shrines in Kashmir has emphatically made it clear that community is only looking up to government and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to keep its word and ensure passage of Bill in the ensuing Budget session. "Vested interests are once again at their best to scuttle and sabotage the passage of the Bill....they have prevented it in the past and are trying everything now for protecting their own interests...." said Dr RL Bhat, chief spokesperson of the Trust while speaking to ET. These are only hurdles and roadblocks we will overcome at any cost, he said adding that amidst the attemps to dilute the Bill and tactics to stop it from enacting , PNBMT shall keep up its spirit and resist such overtures. "We only look uo on government and hope they will see through the motives behind scuttling moves", said Dr Bhat. Maintain that no dilution of the Bill is acceptable to PNBMT and the entire community of Hindus, Dr Bhat said it has already conveyed this clearly to Select Committee as well and it stands by on the commitment , rather reaffirms its resolve that no talk of Temple Bill will be complete without inclusion of major temples like Kshir Bhawani, Shankaracharya, Ramchandraji Temple in its purview, a contention which Dharmarth Trust has made while taking its own interests into account alone. "it is very plain and simple and government as also all parties must understand this with a broad view...." RL Bhat maintained. Denying the allegations made by Dharmarth Trust vehementally he said these are unpalatable and hard to digest. "How can a democratically elected body which wants protection of shrines and temples in a democratic way have any vested interests on this issue...on the contrary it is the Dharmarth members who are simply employees enjoying fat salaries of the Trust who have interests and are becoming impediments in passage of Bill because of fear of losing control on these shrines...", he said. They (Dharmarth Trust) are trying to divide the Hindus of Kashmir into Kashmiri and non-Kashmiri Hindus. This is politics of division and dangerous, he said adding that the bill that is waiting for passage gives equal rights to all Hindus of Kashmir to elect and be elected to the Shrine B. |
