Jammu, Jan 22 : With all set for forthcoming budget session , the NC led coalition government today sent the proposal of its schedule to Governor for his consent and formal approval , a constitutional requirement before he summons the legislature for the session.
Omar Abdullah led cabinet has already given nod to commencement of the session from February 10 after Law department circulated it last week. Finance Minister A R Rather is likely to present the budget on February 13.Sources said setting the procedure into motion formally, the government today sent the schedule it has fixed for the Budget session to Governor NN Vohra today who would issue a notification in summoning the legislature from February 10. Sources also said that the tentative date for wrapping up the session has been fixed , most likely upto March 5. The budget would be presented onFebruary 13, two days after the two Houses would discuss Governor's address and present their view points. Contrary to specualtions on Vote on account , full budget would be presented in the House by the Finance Minister, albeit on projected figures of plan size, as done in the previous years.
While as provisional calender for the schedule and number of sittings would be released soon after Governor summoning the Legislature for session, both Legislative Assembly as well as Legislative Council have started informing the legislators unofficially and asking them to prepare their questions and other issues which they want to be taken up in the coming session of the Legislature, sources said. However, the session would not be stretched beyond first week of March, sources said adding most likely it would culminate by March 5.
