| Stationery deptt stops supplies, pleads non-availability of petrol for vehicles | | | Bivek Mathur
JAMMU, Jan 22: Department of Stationery and Supplies has no oil supply for vehicles to carry stationary from Jammu to places from where orders have been placed with it. A college teacher who pleaded anonymity told Early Times that he has been visiting the Sub-Depot of Department of Stationary and Supplies for the last over a month seeking details about availability of supplies but the usual reply he used to get is 'Supply has been stopped from Jammu District office due to some reasons". Later, when this teacher tried to contact the Assistant Director, Jammu Khilari Lal about the failure of the department to ensure the supply to government offices, he replied in an absurd manner showing his dominance in the department and said, "Hamare Paas Gadiyon Main Tail Kahan Hai Udhampur Ke Liye Supply Bhejne Ke Liye, Hamare Paas To Doda Aur Doosre Districts Ke Liye Paisa Nahi To Udhampur Ke Liye Kahan Se Denge".
The college teacher said that earlier this officer was giving excuses of bad weather conditions and dismantling of Jammu-Udhampur road for not providing the supply to Sub-Stationery-Udhampur. Minister for Stationery and Supplies Manohar Lal Sharma promised to take stern action against the erring officials for meaningless reply and maintained that the Department is ensuring the supply properly to all the Sub-Depots of the state .Sharma said, "Our Department used to invite proposals from other Government Departments for the purchases but majority of the departments used to purchase the stationary items through outsourcing of their own from Private contractors and companies". He also said that the Annual budget for the Department is about three Crores which is another impediment for some hiccups in the departmental supply. The Department of Stationery and Office Supplies acts as a nodal agency to procure supply of various stationary items to the government offices including type paper, duplicating paper, Photostat papers, white paper, azurlaid papers etc. |
