Jammu, Jan 22: The affluent doctors are adopting various methods to manage postings in city hospitals and ultrasound machine training at Gandhi Nagar hospital is one such mean being used by these doctors to meet their end.
Sources informed Early Times that Training of Ultrasound machine at Gandhi Nagar hospital, has become an easy excuse being used by doctors to avoid serving at their actual place of postings outside the city limits.
"Dr. Poonam Manyal, who remained at Gandhi Nagar hospital for years together, had been transferred to Purmandal in July 2013", sources said, adding that instead of serving rural masses, she managed to return back to Gandhi Nagar hospital, using her political influence. "Dr. Poonam is wife of a Block Medical Officer (BMO) and had been serving at Gandhi Nagar hospital for years together", they said.
"Another Dr. Sunita Puri, whose actual place of posting was Vijapur, under the garb of Ultrasound training managed to stay back at Gandhi Nagar hospital", sources said, adding that she had served at Government Medical College and Hospital in past, but transfer to Vijaypur didn't suit her and she managed to come back to Gandhi Nagar hospital.
A doctor pleading anonymity said that the list of doctors, who managed to dissuade postings outside city limits was very long. "These doctors enjoys strong political patronage and strong influence in administration, due to which health scenario in rural areas is grim", he said, adding that there was need for strict adherence to transfer policy, but unfortunately, every rule was being violated with impunity.
He further said that transfers and attachments in violation of norms, was ruling roost and concerned Minister has seemingly deliberately turned a deaf year, towards the issue.
Similarly, another Dr. Meenu Sharma, whose actual place of posting was at Marh, but concerned Chief Medical Officer reportedly issued an attachment order in favour of Dr. Meenu Sharma from Marh to Public Health Center Rehal.
