| 3-day workshop for working journalists commences at JU | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 28: A three days' workshop for working journalist of Jammu province was today inaugurated by Prof. Ali Javed, Former Director National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, Ministry of HRD. According to press release, the three day workshop is being organized by National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, Ministry of HRD in collaboration with Centre for Professional Studies in Urdu, University of Jammu. Around 40 working journalist belonging to different newspapers of Jammu province are participating in the workshop. Prof. MP Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor of JU presided over the inaugural function In his presidential address Prof. MP Singh Ishar said, "It is the only way we can re-assure the public of our determination to play our watchdog role in the society without fear or favour". Prof. Ali Javed congratulated NCPUL & Centre for Professional Studies for organizing a workshop for working journalists of Jammu Province & hoped that these types of programmes will be organized in future also. "A true journalist should be impartial and realistic", he said, adding that it was first attempt in Jammu university. In near future National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language will organize more and more programmes in Jammu University. He informed that already Rs.1 lakh has been sanctioned to Kishtwar Campus for organizing a National Seminar on the topic 'Impact of Urdu language on Kashmiri Language'. Veteran journalist Ved Bhasin who was the Guest of honour shared his important experiences and informed that journalism was not only a noble profession but also a profession which build a positive society. He, in detail threw light on the art of editorial writing and informed that editorial should be based on truth and burning issues of the society. He said that he started his Journalism from Urdu and there is a lot of scope in Urdu Journalism in the country. On the occasion the dignities on the dais also released Manto Number of six monthly research Journal Tasasul. This special number is edited and complied by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik. Asaf Malik presented a paper on Mantoo Number and described it most important for Urdu students from which they can learn more and more regarding the art of Sadat Hassan Manto. |
