Kathua, Feb 28: Alleging overcharging by ration dealers, residents of Panchayat Thein and Damar of district Kathua today staged protest demonstration in front of DC office Kathua. The protest demonstration was led by Sarpanch Naseeb Singh and slogans against the Assistant Food and Supply, TSO, and CAPD department were chanted by protesters in premises of the secretariat. The protestors alleged that at Damar depot the registered consumers were not getting their ration quota for the past one year except two or three months. "The government fixed rate of flour (Atta) per 10 kilogram and rice per kilogram are Rs. 85 and Rs. 11 respectively but the dealer is charging Rs 90 for Atta per kg and Rs. 15 for rice per kg, and this plundering has been going on unabated since long", the protestors said. They also charged that the CAPD and dealer both have a strong nexus over the conduction of black marketing of ration which was meant for the consumers and even in that connection they had lodged a complaint with CAPD office to demand a probe but nothing has been done so far. |
