JAMMU, Mar 26: District Kathua, Udhampur and Jammu Central as also Jammu Rural reached the next round of quarterfinals of the State Hockey Championship, organised by Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today.
In the first round, Kathua defeated blanked district Badgam 6-0. Sandeep (3rd and 70th) Sanjay Singh (9th), Digvijay Singh (11th and 44th) and Harish Dev Singh (60th) were the scorers.
District Udhampur trounced Anantnag by six goals to two. Dilbag Singh made hat trick netting the ball in the 11th, 17th and 21st minute. Robin (13th), Jagdeep Singh (19th) and Randeep Singh (42nd) were other scorers from the winning side. In another scheduled match, Jammu Central outplayed district Srinagar 5-0, courtesy hat trick from Agandeep Singh, who struck in the second, 10th and 45th minute. Harshvaid sounded the board in the eighth and 60th minute. Jammu Rural also made it a big win against district Pulwama beating latter 6-0. The event was formally declared open by Sports Officer (Jammu) of State Sports Council, Rajan Sharma, who was chief guest. Executive Engineer (PDD), Gurmeet Singh and H S Chib as also Dr Taran Singh were guests of honour.
Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Jagjeet Singh, Charanjeet Singh, Karanjit Singh, JS Reen, Iqbal Singh, Manjeet Singh, Amarjit and Indpal Singh.
FIXTURE: District Samba V/s J&K Police at 12.30 pm; Jammu Rural V/s District Badgam at 2 pm; Jammu West V/s District Rajouri at 3 pm tomorrow. |
