| Jammu Gymkhana, SCC among 4 teams win in Christmas Cup | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 26: Jammu Gymkhana, Samar Cricket Club (SCC) and Delhi Club won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing 2nd Christmas Cricket Cup, being organized jointly by J&K Police and Christian Sports Organization at KC ground, here today.
In the first match of the day, Delhi Club scripted a great win against BC Srinagar. Batting first, Delhi Club made 110 runs in 16 overs game for nine wickets with Prince being top scorer, who made 27 runs. Manoj and Sourav contributed 16 and 14 runs respectively. From BC Srinagar, Ishtiaq took three wickets while Vikram and Abid bagged two each.
In reply, BC Srinagar could not chase the target and bowled out for 79 runs in the allotted 14.5 overs thus lost the match by 31 runs. Ishtiaq remained top scorer with 18-ball 20 runs while Irfan added 16 runs. Abhishek took three wickets from Delhi Club, followed by Sachin, Anuj and Abil, who shared two wickets each. Abhishek of Delhi adjudged man of the match.
In another match of the day, Jammu Gymkhana trounced HC Srinagar by seven wickets. Earlier, HC Srinagar made 99 runs in given 15 overs after winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Inayat was only batsman, who scored in double figure with 52 runs. Sahil and Amar took two wickets each from Jammu Gymkhana.
Batting second, Jammu Gymkhana chased the target of 100 runs in 13.5 overs losing three wickets. Nipun played unbeaten innings of 62 runs coming off 48 deliveries. Rahul added 19 runs. Bilal took two wickets from HC Srinagar. Nipun was declared man of the match.Samar Cricket Club (SCC) defeated Star Cricket Club by 50 runs. Samar Club, batting first, made 159 runs in allotted 15 overs, which, in reply, Star Club could not chase the total bundled out for 109 runs in 14.3 overs. Chetan adjudged man of the match. |
