| Div Com constitutes special teams to check prices, black marketing | | | Jammu, Mar 26: Following repeated cases of consumers being cheated by the traders, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu issued order for constitution of special teams of officials comprising from Consumer affairs, JMC, Legal Metrology and police to deal with the menace.
Divisional Commissioner also held a meeting with officials of different departments pertaining to effective implementation of control on price rise of essential commodities. "Market checking are needed for intensive check of market rates to curb black-marketing, hoarding and profiteering of essential commodities", said Shantmanu. "Price checking is a priority and stern action will be taken against the people who are violating the rules. Hoarding and black marketing will never been tolerated and anyone found in such a practice would be dealt with", said Shantmanu. Administration has also directed civic departments to chalk out effective strategies for maintaining the rates of essential commodities especially fruits and vegetables, LPG, sugar, milk and its products in markets as number of complaints are being received daily.
He directed the officers to take strict action again violators of Essential Commodity Act and ask shopkeepers to display rate lists at prominent place of their establishment for convenience of consumers. |
