Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 27: Residents of Upper Roop Nagar, JDA Colony, Sector 4 have unanimously decided and resolved to vote in favour of only those candidates in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections who would solve the burning problems of the residents of the area.
Expressing concern on sluggish pace of development in the colony, residents, sector 4, observed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of president, Roop Nagar Sector 4 Welfare Committee, Narinder Sharma that since from the date of inception of this Colony authorities gave negligent treatment to people.
Transport service is at the lowest ebb despite issuance of sufficient number of route-permits to matador operators.
People, mostly senior citizens, children and ladies walk normally 2/3 km distance on foot to catch matadors plying on Chinore- Bantalab road. Dilapidated conditions of the inner-roads, especially divider road of sector 4/5 need no further explanation.
From last year, residents of the area are wailing for construction/improvement works of this road but nothing have been done excepting shingling work from water reservoir to end of the segment.
Referring to development work of the park in sector 4, residents further said, even as fore walls have been constructed and land for installation of fountain earmarked but no further effort made to complete it. Besides, lights installed in the park are not properly made functional.
Residents said that they will not further allow such leaders to play pranks with them who make false promises and shall only vote in favour of the candidates in ensuing elections who will ensure speedy and proper development works in their area.
All members of the Committee and others, outnumbering student voters and senior citizens attended the meeting.
