| All India painting camp at Mansar takes off | | | Early Times Report
MANSAR, Mar 26: As part of promotion of art in Jammu & Kashmir, a five-day All India Painting Camp was started by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages at this scenic spot today. The camp is to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a great philosopher and educationist. A day-long seminar was also held by the Academy at Jammu on the life and works of Swamiji. During the camp, artists coming from different parts of the country including J&K will engage themselves in creative activity besides interacting with each other on the nuances of the art of painting. They will confine their work to the teachings and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. The camp is held on the banks of the famous Mansar lake giving a perfect setting for the artists to let loose their creative abilities. The participants include N D Jamwal, Vijay Anand, Bhuvnesh Raina, K. S. Gill, Anand Sharma, Baldev Gambhir, Altaf Ahmad Khan and Tasaduq Hussain. The Academy regularly holds All India painting camps in different parts of the State. The last camp was held at Kargil in the month of October 2013. The Academy is also holding 5-day drama festival in the border areas of Jammu depicting the contribution of Swami Vivekananda to the enlightenment of society. |
