Jammu, Mar 26: Police today foiled a major bovine smuggling bid with the arrest of nine bovine smugglers besides rescuing sixteen animals which were being illegally transported. Police sources said, "The arrested have been identified namely as Irshad Ahmed (Driver) of Behrot Thanamandi, Farooq Ahmed of Khablaan Thanamandi, Mohammad Pervez of Kaanwan Kalakot, Gulam Nabi of Rajal, Mohammad Hanif of Lamberi , Zaffar Iqbal of Kalakot, Moss Bilal of Kalakot, Abdul Rasheed of Tok Thanamandi, and Nazir Hussain of Tok Thanamandi. "Besides this vehicles bearing regd nos JK02AD-1672, JK02AD-0393 and JK02AL-1149 being used by the bovine smugglers were also seized, police sources said. Police sources said that following specific information a special naka was raised by SHO Nowshera, Inspector Sajjad Khan alongwith party at Thalka Nowshera during the intervening night of 25/26. "The naka team intercepted three vehicles were intercepted loaded with 16 bovine animals, police sources said and added, "Naka team rescued animals and arrested nine bovine smugglers on spot following they failed to produce the documents/permission for transporting bovines from one district to other.' A case in this regard stands registered against the accused and further investigation is on. |
