| NMC calls for amendments in SRO 64 | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 1: President of the National Mazdoor Conference(NMC)Subash Shastri today appealed to the Chief Minister to brining about required amendments in SRO 64 and take decision in the next cabinet meeting is being held after the model code of conduct is over to pave way for regularization of all casual and seasonal laborers who have been engaged in various departments of the State Govt. after March 1994. Addressing a well attended May Day rally at Rani Park here, Shastri said that these daily rated workers facing serious financial hardships due to inflation and price hike as their services have not been regularized for the last 15 to 20 years nor they are getting their salary in time. Emphasizing on the need for early creations of separate heads in all concerned departments and budgetary allocations made separately so that their regularization, these workers are able to get their monthly wages regularly and first day of every month. Stressing for immediate release of 10 % DA due from January last and 4th installment of 6th pay commission arrears in favor of employees of the State Govt. and pensioners to provide financial relief to Salaried class as the prices of all essential commodities have gone up considerably and Shastri hoped decision would be taken by the State Govt. at the earliest. Others demands highlighted in the rally included release of all pending dues of causal and seasonal laborers working in PWD, Irrigation and PDD of the State Govt., declaring May DAY as National holiday, enhancing medical allowance to rupee to one thousand per month, enhancing the wages of daily wager to rupee ten thousand per month, granting 20 % interim relief beside merger of 50% DA into basic pay /pension and strictly enforcement of C.P. Fund deduction scheme in various departments of the State Govt. and issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers of the Rural Development department. Among others who also spoke on the occasion were Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Bhupinder Singh, Com. Barkat Ram Surrinder Kumar, Sudesh Kumar, Parmjit, Sukhdev Singh Subash Sharma, Swaran Bhagat, Dalip Bhagat,Vijay Bhagat and many others. |
