| Fears defeat as Islamia School, IKMT candidate’s likely cut votes | | Coalition candidate for Ladakh feels ditched | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, May 1: Earlier nominated NC-Congress alliance candidate for Ladakh division feels betrayed as massive vote bank holders of both NC and Congress camps, Islamia School and IKMT besides BJP candidate are likely to cut votes of alliance candidate during ongoing Parliamentary elections. A senior Congress leader of Ladakh said that earlier announced NC-Congress alliance candidate T-Sampal is feeling betrayed and fears defeat as staunch supporters of both NC and Congress which include Islamia school and Imam Khumaini Memorial Trust of Kargil District instead of supporting him fielded their own candidates "Islamia School, IKMT are campaigning for their own candidates, BJP candidate is also gaining popularity this year, had there been no dispute and if NC and Congress camps had not fielded their own candidates, alliance candidates would have been in better position but now I must say vote bank which is divided is going to harm T-Sampal to large extent," he said. The leader said fielding a coalition candidate was not a good decision especially when there was no consensus on the ground. He said that the reason for ongoing internal bickering between the NC and Congress camps are vivid and known to everybody. As a war of words broke out between NC and Congress leaders at the time of forming Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) in Kargil District recently, NC in general and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in particular tried to impose his decision on Congress workers to do whatever pleases to NC after using his Delhi Relationships which were put down by local Congress camp with a hard hitting workout by forming LAHDC finally and sideling his rulings altogether. Pertinently from Ladakh division besides NC-Congress alliance candidate T-Sampal, BJP candidate Thuptan-Chhewang of Leh District, religious institution Imam Khumaini Memorial Trust which is backing Congress unit of Kargil District have fielded the acting president and former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ghulam Raza as an independent candidate who as per details received will also be supported by presently active Councilors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council LAHDC of Kargil District, while as Islamia School supporting NC unit of Kargil have fielded Mohammad Syed Kazmi as their candidate and both the candidates besides candidates of other political parties will contest against NC-Congress alliance candidate T. Sampal. |
