JTC appeals PDD for uninterrupted power supply

Jammu, May 1: Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) appealed the concerned authorities to implement High Court order passed on 11-04-2014 OWP No. 544/2014/CMA No. 707/2014 to provide uninterrupted power supply to Jagti Migrants.
According to press release the meeting was held under the leadership of Shadi Lal Pandita. Addressing the meeting Pandita expressed his concern over the attitude of the concerned authorities in mitigating the sufferings of the inmates of the Jagti Migrant Camp. Pandita said that presently 16 hours power curtailments is being imposed in Jagti Migrant Camp which has added to sufferings of the migrants putting up in this Migrant Camp.
Shadi Lal Pandita appealed the concerned authorities to implement High Court order passed on 11-04-2014 OWP No. 544/2014/CMA No. 707/2014 to provide uninterrupted power supply to Jagti Migrants.
The State Human rights Commission passed order on 05/06/2013 Relief Commissioner (M) Jammu be directed to press the concerned authority on this burning problem again and submit the progress by or before next date.
Meanwhile PDD be directed to take necessary steps and provide sufficient electricity to the Jagti township which is prime requirement of time and their basic need in these scorching hot days. It is not out of place to mention here that lot of inconvenience is being caused to camp inmates who have been plunged into darkness. It may be conveyed to department that human life is precious and cannot be put on stake at any cost. It is grave human rights violation with these camp dwellers that are facing hardships in a cut off area from where no one is listening their shrieks and screams. To get the speedy justice is the fundamental right of every citizen. No public servant cans effort to show disrespect, disregard and infringement to the fundamental right of citizen of this country.
Pandita said after next date State Human Rights Commission passed order on 02/04/2014 by the Division Bench of this Commission comprising of Rafiq Fida, Chairperson and S. Amolak Singh Ld. Member, Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission the PDD Department is providing electricity which is basic amenity of the migrants residing in Jagti Township for only eight hours which is in all circumstances insufficient and inadequate.
Department is directed to provide electricity facility as is being provided other consumers in the area. Department cannot have a discriminatory approach while providing electricity to the people. Pandita further said that the existing cash assistance relief does not meet the domestic needs of migrant families due to hike in prices of all essential commodities which has adversely affected the educational career of the students of migrant families.
An appeal has been made for enhancement of cash assistance relief to the tune of Rs.15000/- per family and completion of construction work of 40 beded hospital for making it functional. Implementation of Prime Minister's Employment package in letter and spirit. Carrying of on spot recruitment drive by police department in Jagti Migrant Camp. Others who participated in the meeting Rajinder Dhar, Sanjay Pandita, Sunil Raina, Vijay Pandita, SL Kar, Mithan Pandita, Shuban Raina, Ramesh Bhat, ML Akhoon, ML Pandita, Gopi Nath Shah, SN Gurtu, GL Bhat and others.
