Jammu, May 1: An impressive May Day rally was taken out by the activists/members of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples democratic Trade Union (JKPDTU) under the leadership of Suresh Sharma State President JKPDTU. Employees of the Government/PSUs/autonomous bodies/pvt sector participated in this rally in the winter capital city here today and highlighted burning demands of the working class of the State including pensioners. Distt. President from all the Distts attended. Besides State president senior office bearers Mohinder Sharma, Prem Singh Bawa, Jasmit Singh Madan, Kapil Bakshi, B.N. Singh,Manohar Singh, Dr Vikas Sharma, Randip Singh Jasrotia, Rinku Gill, , Ab. Latief , Supinder Singh, Rajesh Kumar, , Amit Kumar,rohit gorge,vijay kumar, saber mohd addressed workers. They severely criticized the coalition government for maintaining criminal silence over the pending demands of the employees which include regularization of daily wagers, consolidate workers, contractual and adhoc workers, removal of pay anomalies of all cadres including clerical staff, revisiting of sick PSUs and extending budgetary support and timely salary to them, increase in medical allowance from Rs. 300/ to Rs. 1000/-, release of pending wages of daily wagers of PHE and PDD , dislocation allowance , pensionary benefits to fresh recruitees on the pattern of legislators and their other colleagues working under similar conditions ,mediclaim policy for the non gazetted employees,reframing of policy for regularization REZs/RETs. They also demanded that new recruitment policy needs revision as it is a cruel joke with the unemployed educated youth of the State. Sharma lambasted the State Government for ignoring long pending demand s of the employees and workers of the State. They are forced to come on streets for getting their demands conceded . Glowing tributes were paid to the martyrs, while recalling their sacrifices in Chicago (USA) in 1886 who laid down their lives for the sake of the rights of the labourers /workmen and stated that their sacrifice cannot be forgotten. He demanded immediate implementation of minimum wage Act in the state in letter and spirit, employment of locals in the industrial and other hydroelectric projects in the State. He criticized the managements of the hydroelectric projects and National Highway authorities for not utilizing the unemployed youth at higher posts in these projects other than unskilled and skilled laborers. |
