| ICCR condoles demise of legendary Dogri folk singer Pradhuman Singh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 1: Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India condoled the untimely demise of legendary Dogri Folk Singer and Poet Pradhuman Singh who passed away today. In a press statement issued by ICCR spokesperson, Pradhuman Singh has been the Honorable member of the Regional Advisory Committee of ICCR, Jammu since last 2 years. The condolence meeting held here today at the headquarters of ICCR, Jammu wherein Regional Director of ICCR, Jammu Balwant Thakur and the staff prayed for the peace of the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. Speakers recalled his long association with the legendry singer and said that his demise has created a big vacuum in the music world of Jammu. They recalled his contribution to the promotion of Dogri Music at the National/International level. Regional Director of ICCR, Thakur credited Pradhuman Singh for inspiring him to create the Mega Cultural Show 'Rangla Jammu' which has become a milestone in the cultural life of Jammu which used to be opened with the singing of Pradhuman Singh. They also said that distinguished folk style singing is going to stay in the hearts and minds of the people for decades to come. |
