| NCP celebrates May Day | | Demands white paper on not transferring MGNREGS funds to SEGF | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 1: Former minister Thakur Randhir Singh NCP chief J&K state a veteran Trade Union leader while addressing the press, NCP and National front of Indian Trade Union (NFITU) workers on the occasion of May day said the May day originates with the US labour movement in the late 19th century. Singh said it is very unfortunate that the central and state govt has very badly misused the name of Bapu Mahatama Gandhi by using his name in the schemes under discussion by various paper and forums in J&K state is Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme (MGNREGS) this scheme was introduced to serve the interests of labour class who are employed at various projects in rural parts of India under this scheme the rural labourers were to be maximum benefitted. Singh said it is very sad when we are celebrating May Day the J&K state financial department unmindfully has not transferred the allotted central funds to State Employment Guarantee Fund (SEGF) resulting in stoppage of funds of MGNERGS by the Ministry of Rural Development to state from 2014-2015. Mr Singh demanded white paper on this issue. Is it a tribute to Mahatama Gandhi by using his name for Labour class, which was very dear for him and always fought for them during freedom movement and this labour class supported the freedom movement by sacrificing their lives and now rich class is becoming richer?. Other who attended and spoke on the May day function included Kamal Gupta, Satpal Sharma, R S Billowria, Tarsem Singh Manhas, Dev Raj Sharma, Gulab Chand Bhagat, Bansi Lal Sodhi, Tariq Nar, Ashok Singh, Bodh Raj Salaria, Mithun Sharma and Chairmen of NCP frontal organization.
