NHPC Kishtwar unions celebrate May Day
Management-Contractors nexus flourishes in department: Union leaders

Kishtwar, May 1: Several unions of National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) affiliated with All India Trade Union Congress under the leadership of Mohammed Yousaf Naik today celebrated May Day at NHPC colony Kishtwar wherein several union leaders slammed the NHPC management for boosting contractors nexus in the corporation and swindled the government money by indulging in fake withdrawal of bills against non existing workers.
Various speakers while addressing the gathering slams NHPC authorities for anti employees attitude, particularly towards the casual employees engaged by the department since last over two decades. The speakers demanded immediate redresser of the employees problems and threatened to launch an agitation in case the demands of the employees could not be agreed which includes minimum wages of Rs.10000/month for unskilled workman, best pension scheme for best salary paid employees, no ceiling in gratuity with amendment in the act, recruitment in Public Sector instead of out source appointments, release of payments of left out cases in leave of compassionate appointment in NHPC & opening of EPF Pension Office of Central EPF organization at Jammu or Kishtwar. Speakers said that due to lack of proper planning, the corporation fail to appoint CMD on permanent bases and added that due to frequent change of CMD after every 6 months the head of the corporation fails to address the genuine demands of employees. They also demanded that the work on 1200 MW prestigious Budsar power project and 1000 MW Pakal-Dool power project should be started with immediate effect so that the over burden of employees could be adjusted in these two project, beside will provide job opportunity to local unemployed youths of the District. They also threatened to launch an agitation in case the authorities fail to improve the condition of Batote-Kishtwar-Sinthen-Srinagar National Highway and Kishtwar-Padder-Himachal Pradesh National Highway. They said that hundreds of poor people fall prey to accidents due to poor roads of Doda region. In the end all the union leaders pledge to continue its fight against the injustice of the corporation towards the employees.
Among the prominent who address the gathering include Ishtaq Ahmed Malik, Sajjad Hussain Shah, Ajaiz Ahmed Sheikh, Vinod Parihar, Rakesh Kumar, Mustafa Chowdhary, Suresh Kumar and others.
